Overview
The EPICENTRE Educational Platform is designed to enhance professional understanding and communication in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, and Business Development. By integrating these key areas, it promotes sustainable practices in the Raw Materials sector, aligning with the European Green Deal objectives.
EPICENTRE will offer a comprehensive and dynamic educational platform with tailored learning resources for professionals in academia and industry. As a pioneering initiative in sustainable development education, it aims to bridge knowledge gaps, advance sustainability practices, and drive a positive impact on the sector’s future.
Programme structure
The LCA summer school for professionals offers a structured learning experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Sustainability Assessment, and Business Development, providing essential skills for sustainability analysis and circular economy strategies.
MANDATORY COURSES:
LCA Pre-Course (2 ECTS:
• Introduction to LCA principles
• Modelling basics in OpenLCA software
• Result interpretation
• Developing LCA case study

LCA Basic (1 ECTS):
• Selected project development
• Product systems & flowchart
• Creation of flows and processes using OpenLCA
• LCA impact assessment
• Results analysis and feedback

Sustainability Assessment (2 ECTS):
• Life Cycle Costing (LCC)
• Social LCA (S-LCA)
• EDP & LCA software (Gabi, SimaPro)

• Sustainable Product Development
• Business Model Innovation for Sustainability

Final project submission in learning platform until 15th October
Final seminar (ONLINE) on 22nd October.
During the LCA summer school for professionals you will have the opportunity to receive support from experienced mentors. As well as the opportunity to consult with experienced LCA experts on the days of the face-to-face sessions.
